More about the Producer:
Living in San Pedro Sula 10 years ago, José Martín returned to San Miguelito and began to plant coffee on his land to see what would come of it. He produces coffee, maize, beans among other diverse crops. He regulates the shade onto the coffee plants by pruning large bushes and trees and to promote productivity in the coffee plants. He fertilizes his finca without chemicals or glyphosates, and part is organically fertilized with the coffee pulp, gives foliar feeding using the wastewater from coffee processing. José Martín’s goal is to continue working and living the passion for agriculture and for his family. The family business, “Inversiones Sarmiento,” was established after José Martín won a regional coffee contest. His coffee production requires the work of 17 people, of whom 10 are seasonal pickers, harvesting the red coffee cherries, and 7 family members who work full time on technical activities, harvesting, processing, packaging, marketing, and sales.
